The Survivors - Daniel Harvell

I admit thinking "this story is so told". When I started reading I thought it was another 'they should have died and the grim reaper is coming to get them novel' from the outset I was hooked because Daniel is such a fluid writer. The story was very enjoyable and does have similarities to Heroes. I hope the end does not mean that his current characters will not feature in his next novel because I became very fond of them.

Ageless Spy - DC Mahoney

This novel is continuously exciting. Carl Coles puts aside his personal life and sacrifices himself for his country for years. He struggles with choices such as getting married to the women he loves. Is it selfish for him to involve her? Despite all the tragedy I don't think this noble man would have done anything differently.

As selfless as Carl Coles is, is he selfish to his loved ones always putting his career first?

If you are a fan of action/adventure and intrigue this novel is a definite must.  This is one of those novels that is hard to put down.

Its been a long while - criteria for book review

I have not been doing reviews for a long time.  My apologies to anybody that I promised a review to.  I am getting going again.  Due to the fact that I get hundreds of requests every month.  I have the following criteria, before considering a review.

1. It is a free service to help struggling authors - if you are financially well off kindly use a paid for service.
2. I can only do one book per author at this stage.
3. If you are a well known author, I am doing this service for the unknowns to help them, kindly do not take advantage.
4. If you have more than 5 reviews on kindle, kindly do not ask me, I am as I said before helping those that have the biggest need.

Review Price of Justice- Alan Brenham

I don't want to give away the plot because it is very exciting but this novel also brings to light the question whether we are ever justified to kill.  I don't think any of us can answer that or ever want to be in a situation that we actually know the answer.

Being a parent I wonder if I would not have done the same thing that the main character does?  This is an exciting read and I am glad to say that the good guys win against the worst type of monsters, paedophiles.

The way Alan uses the responses to translate the German at one stage is very clever.  This is a worthwhile read and while we are reminded that monsters lurk around us we are also reminded that there are good people that work very hard for justice.

Review of Out of the Shadow by J.S. Winn

When Jamie sent me her review request, I read the description and I wanted to read it immediately as it really seemed to be my favourite genre.  As I get sent many novels to review, I am often disappointed when the story fails to fulfil the description that I have in mind.

When it comes to Out of the Shadow, I was not disappointed.  Jamie is in my opinion a brilliant writer and the story is thrilling.  I could not put it down and finished it in one night.

Jamie cleverly uses Rachel’s psychologist’s seminar to tell her story.  Her novel kept me guessing, (which I love).  I guessed wrong which is unusual for me I usually know what the plot  is going to be long before anybody else does.   I can’t tell you much about it as it is full of surprises.

If you like mystery drama you have to buy Out of the Shadow.  I will be surprised if you don’t enjoy it.
Jamie I wish you lots of success you thoroughly deserve it.

Kindly note that Jamie did not pay me anything for this review, my review service is completely free.  I get free copies of novels in exchange for my honest opinion.

Review of Hard Target by Barbara Phinney

This novel would make a fantastic action movie.  It is very fast paced and the story is so exciting.  I amazed at Ms Phinney’s ability to keep up that constant momento.  Throughout this story the action keeps going.
Dawna the main character is an amazing woman; tough as nails but with a lot of heart.  If you are looking for a girly, touchy and feely romance, this novel is not for you.

When things go wrong at the embassy that Dawna is head of security of, Tay is called in. Dawna and Tay have a past.  They have to work together to find out who is being targeted at the embassy and why.

The fantastic plot will keep you guessing and the imagery is so vivid that I was transported into South America.

Barbara has written a novel that will appeal to both male and female audiences.

Review of Peaceful Meadows by Tracey Madeley

If you are into fast paced and action filled novels then you will not find Peaceful Meadows to your taste.

This novel is based in the 80’s when society was especially driven to consumerism.  Peaceful Meadows is a hippy community with idyllic principals.  They are not the drug taking and sex crazed hippies of the 60’s but still a community not bound by convention.

This hippy community do not confirm to social norms but as Solomon the leader states that rules are necessary within a society for there to be organised co-existence.

The novel brings to light what an alternative life style could be like.  Unfortunately even this loving peaceful community is free from harm.  Their innocence makes them vulnerable to ruthless outsiders.

This story will make the reader question whether people can successfully live within a completely socialistic society.  I often tire of our commerce driven existence.  We work so hard and have so little time for each other and their life style does seem wonderful.  Sadly it is true that there are always people that take advantage.

Peaceful Meadow does tell a unique story.  I enjoyed the idealism of the story.  If you are questioning your own life style this is a definite good read for you.  This is not a novel that will appeal to people across the board but it is a worthwhile read if you are personally questioning the world’s social structure.
The ending is very touching but I am not going to ruin it for you.
